I knew before my daughter was born that I'd have a difficult decision facing me when the time came to return to work, but once I'd held her in my arms and seen her smiling up at me, I realized that there wasn't a decision to be made after all - I needed to stay home with her. While it's not necessarily the right decision for everyone, I really felt that being a stay-at-home mom was the right thing to do for my baby and my family. I needed to be there to hear her first words and see her first steps. Breastfeeding is very important to me, and I wanted to be able to nurse her beyond her first birthday. As the end of my maternity leave loomed, I knew that I couldn't leave her with strangers every day, no matter how reliable and educated they were, and so I left my job at a national non-profit business association to begin my new life as a stay-at-home mom.

Milk Please, Mommy is the vehicle that will allow me to continue to stay home with my daughter, and with the new baby that we're happily expecting at the end of the summer. I'm thrilled to be able to make and sell nursing necklaces. I was given one as a gift when my daughter was small, and it completely changed our nursing relationship. She was fascinated with it then, and even now at 14 months it's still a wonderful tool. We use it now to learn colours and textures, and I use it several times per week when I know I'll be nursing somewhere that's particularly distracting. It serves to focus her attention and keep her involved in what we're doing together. As cliched as it may sound, I'm not just the business owner - I'm also a happy customer!

My goal is to make sure that you will be just as happy with your Milk Please, Mommy nursing necklace as I was with mine, because at the heart of it, you're the reason that I'm able to raise my children in the manner that I feel is best for my family, and I'm more grateful for that than I can ever say.
